Without a grand stage show and without special effects, they come with just two guitars and a double bass and bring the house down! The trio around Gismo Graf, once celebrated as the shooting star of Gypsy Jazz, who has now outgrown the "wonder child" status and is regarded as one of the leading and most innovative Gypsy Jazz guitarists in the world, presents, together with his father Joschi Graf on rhythm guitar and bassist Joel Locher, simply – the Gismo Graf Trio – the anniversary program for the 16th anniversary.
“In Spirito Django” – the name says it all. However, in addition to Django Reinhardt's most famous classics, the trio combines a unique and exciting blend of original compositions, pop, classical, or even rock songs in Gypsy Jazz garb. Thus, seemingly randomly thrown together pieces by Sting, Michael Jackson, or even piano concertos by Frederic Chopin and film music from Walt Disney movies create such a fitting mix as if they could actually originate from the pen of Django Reinhardt.
Combined with the razor-sharp humor of the three musicians on stage, a unique and entertaining program emerges, catapulting Gypsy Jazz directly into the year 2025. The Dutchman Stochelo Rosenberg, who has celebrated successes worldwide for over 30 years with his world-renowned Rosenberg Trio, comes to Germany to present their joint project with the star of the German Gypsy Jazz scene, Gismo Graf and his trio in – Bad Schallerbach during the Musiksommer.
In 2017, Stochelo recorded the soundtrack for the opening film of the Berlinale by Etienne Comar “Django – A Life for Music”.
Sold-out shows, including at Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, at festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, The Rose Bowl Los Angeles, Jazz Festival of Montreal, and many more speak for themselves. Collaboration with music greats like Stephane Grappelli, Luciano Pavarotti, Shirley Bassey, Randy Crawford, The Manhattan Transfer, etc. adorns his career. Stochelo Rosenberg is considered one of the best guitarists in the world.
