Where Vienna is at its most Viennese, the Balkans meet the stage
Loud, rousing and full of humor. For almost 30 years, Slavko Ninić has been bringing the sound of south-eastern Europe to Vienna and far beyond with the Vienna Tschuschenkapelle. What once began as a self-deprecating name derived from the swear word "Tschusch" now stands for the diversity, openness and joie de vivre of the city. The five musicians mix music from the Balkans with Turkish, Greek and Arabic sounds, Viennese songs, gypsy jazz and even classical music.
Every performance is a celebration - spontaneous, energetic and full of joie de vivre. The Wiener Tschuschenkapelle is more than just a band: for many years it has stood for cohesion, cultural exchange and fine Viennese humor. Whether in small clubs, large theaters or even in the Vienna State Opera - their music combines tradition and modernity, seriousness and cheerfulness, Vienna and the world. An evening with the Wiener Tschuschenkapelle is rousing, funny and touching - a musical experience that lingers on.
