Beyond guilt and atonement
Birgit Minichmayr reads Jean Améry – accompanied by Tango de Salón The well-known Burgtheater actress Birgit Minichmayr reads texts by the writer and resistance fighter Jean Améry, who, as a survivor of the Nazi era, writes about guilt, memory and humanity. His words are honest, profound and harrowing – they provoke thought and linger in the memory.
The evening is accompanied musically by the Austrian quintet Tango de Salón, who play soulful and rousing tango music on the violin, piano, guitar, bandoneon and bass. The music is by the Jewish-Ukrainian composer Efim Yourist and combines concert-quality with passion. Critics describe their style as ‘full of longing, eroticism and fire’ – an interplay of melancholy and joie de vivre. The result is an evening that combines literature and music in a special way, evoking memories and arousing emotions – touching, impressive and unforgettable.
An event in cooperation with the Salzkammergut Festival Gmunden https://www.burgtheater.at/ensemble/birgit-minichmayr
