Franz Kafka's century-old novel "The Trial" tells the story of a refusal. Joseph K. is accused by an imaginary court on the morning of his 30th birthday, without ever knowing what he is being charged with. 

He gets lost in affairs and distractions instead of responding to the call to "think more of himself" and focus on what is essential. But what is essential? Joseph K. loses himself in self-staging and fantasies instead of taking responsibility.

About Philipp Hochmair: 
The high-performance actor is always charged, always gives his all – theater can hardly be experienced more intensely. From 2003 to 2009, Philipp Hochmair was a member of the ensemble at the Vienna Burgtheater, and since 2009 he has been seen at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg and on many major stages. Engagements have taken him to the State Theater in Hanover, the theaters in Hamburg and Zurich, the Volksbühne, and the German Theater in Berlin.

His spontaneous takeover as Jedermann for the ailing Tobias Moretti at the Salzburg Festival in 2018 caused a stir. Since the summer of 2024, Philipp Hochmair has been very successfully the new “Jedermann” at the Salzburg Festival under the direction of Robert Carsen. The production has celebrated international recognition.

He became known to a broader audience through numerous film and television roles, including as the protagonist of the ORF/ARD series "Vorstadtweiber," "Blind ermittelt," "Charité," and many more. He was awarded the ROMY 2022 and the Grimme Prize 2023 for the feature film "Wannseekonferenz."
