Tango Ador
The Koehne Quartet, consisting of Joanna Lewis (violin), Anne Harvey-Nagl (violin), Lena Fankhauser (viola), and Melissa Coleman (cello) expands to a quintet with Ciro Vigilante on double bass. Pianist Karl Eichinger is also involved – all have earned an international reputation in cross-genre interpretations. Tango Ador, a composition by Melissa Coleman, gives its name to the program featuring works by George Gershwin, Melissa Coleman, and Philip Glass.
The New York magazine Fanfare described Karl Eichinger as “...<d: i><i> who may just be the latest incarnation of Gershwin’s ‘to-go’ interpreter” </i>and </d:>thus George Gershwin's Piano Concerto “Concerto in F” in an arrangement for piano and string quintet is at the center of the program, highlighting the chamber music facets of this work. With the 5th String Quartet by Philip Glass, the Koehne Quartet can showcase its mastery in engaging with 20th-century music, while in “Tango Ador” the security of style and improvisational flair unite.
