The lightest is the heaviest – violin, Styrian harmonica, guitar and tuba – four
virtuoso musicians weave a dynamic, chamber music texture that blossoms in an
elegance and lightness that one would not expect in connection with folk music.

In the improvisations, jazz shimmers, in the flawless interplay the classical training is evident, and in the manifold echoes, the broad horizon of four world citizens who are simultaneously deeply rooted in their homeland.

This music resists any simple categorization and creates a delightful auditory confusion. Maxjoseph's music is not only a synthesis of high and low art, old and new, folk music and classical music – it is an invitation to a dialogue in which boundaries blur while remaining firmly grounded, rooted in the homeland.

“NAU” is the title of the current album and program of the ensemble – music that has been missed not only in Bavaria but far beyond: light-footed, charming, and with extraordinary, fresh ideas that break clichés and reinterpret folk music in a completely new way.
