When the days grow shorter and the scent of cinnamon and pine fills the air, we long for moments of peace – for stories, sounds and thoughts that allow us to pause and reflect. This is exactly what this special evening at the Stadttheater Gmunden offers you. Johannes Silberschneider, one of the great voices and faces of Austrian theatre and film, will guide you through the evening with his unique artistry of language. He is known for his enormous versatility and depth – whether on stage, in cinema (including ‘Mahler auf der Couch’, ‘Jud Süß’, ‘Niemandsland’) or on television (‘Soko Donau’, ‘Tatort’). With his warm, concise voice, he lends a new intensity to the Advent texts by Selma Lagerlöf, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Peter Rosegger, Theodor Storm and others – sensitive, haunting and full of poetry.

He is accompanied by young, highly talented musicians from the Gmunden Regional Music School. With sensitive arrangements and delicate timbres, they weave music and words into a poetic whole – sometimes quiet and dreamy, sometimes filled with quiet joy. This Advent reading is not a loud Christmas show. It is an invitation to pause, an evening for the heart and soul – and a touching prelude to the festive season.
