With great pleasure, the Gallery Schloss Parz presents the upcoming exhibition of the internationally renowned artist Hans Weigand, whose powerful visual worlds have been characterized for decades by a radical engagement with societal upheavals, cultural codes, and existential boundary experiences.
Hans Weigand, born in 1954 in Hall in Tirol, is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Austrian art. Since the early 1980s, he has pursued an artistic path that oscillates between painting, graphics, printmaking, photography, and installation – always with a distinctive style that combines the wild with the precise, the surreal with the political, the apocalyptic with the poetic. His visual language is of high intensity, often peppered with dark symbols, pop cultural fragments, iconographic breaks, and a subversive humor. Surfing, as a recurring motif – wave, rebellion, escapism – often symbolically represents the state of a world teetering between longing and loss of control in his works.
The exhibition at the Gallery Schloss Parz showcases central groups of works as well as new pieces by the artist that sharpen the view of our present – but also of the inner abysses that open up within it. Weigand's paintings open spaces that escape the pure, the unequivocal. His images are manifestations of a state of tension: between beauty and destruction, between myth and consumption, between collective fantasies and personal reflection.
Art in the Cabinet with Marion Kilianowitsch
Marion Kilianowitsch is an Austrian sculptor and object artist, known primarily for her distinctive work with iron and steel. In her sculptures, wall objects, and installations, she combines the archaic power of the material with a delicate, poetic language of forms. Her works address space, memory, and transformation and often unfold a quiet tension between robustness and vulnerability. Kilianowitsch also designs numerous sacred and public spaces alongside her free works, marking her as one of the prominent voices in contemporary Austrian sculpture.
