With great pleasure, the Galerie Schloss Parz presents the upcoming exhibition of the internationally renowned artist Hans Weigand, whose powerful visual worlds for decades have been characterized by a radical engagement with social upheavals, cultural codes, and existential boundary experiences.
Hans Weigand, born in 1954 in Hall in Tyrol, is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Austrian art. Since the early 1980s, he has pursued an artistic path that fluctuates between painting, graphics, printmaking, photography, and installation – always with an unmistakable signature that connects the wild with the precise, the surreal with the political, the apocalyptic with the poetic. His visual language is marked by high intensity, often interspersed with dark symbols, pop cultural fragments, iconographic breaks, and a subversive humor. The surf as a recurring motif – wave, rebellion, escapism – often symbolically represents the state of a world that teeters between longing and loss of control in his works.
The exhibition at the Galerie Schloss Parz showcases central groups of works as well as new pieces by the artist that sharpen the gaze on our present – but also on the inner abysses that unfold within it. Weigand's painting opens spaces that escape the pure and the unequivocal. His images are manifestations of a state of tension: between beauty and destruction, between myth and consumption, between collective fantasies and personal reflection.
Art in the Cabinet with Marion Kilianowitsch
Marion Kilianowitsch is an Austrian sculptor and object artist, known primarily for her distinctive work with iron and steel. In her sculptures, wall objects, and installations, she combines the archaic power of the material with a fine, poetic language of form. Her works thematize space, memory, and transformation, often unfolding a quiet tension between robustness and vulnerability. In addition to her free works, Kilianowitsch also designs numerous sacred and public spaces, making her one of the prominent voices in contemporary Austrian sculpture.
