Amor & Psyche?

Belgian choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen is known worldwide for his reinterpretations of classical themes for large dance ensembles. With TANZ LINZ, he presents his personal exploration of the ancient myth of Cupid and Psyche.

The focus is on Psyche's search for self-love as a prerequisite for love for another person. In the impressive finale, the question mark in the title, which arouses curiosity, is resolved. For the eternal question of why this wild whirlpool of emotions has to be experienced again and again finds its goal in finding true love and being able to experience a fulfilling partnership full of pleasure, joy and lust.

In his creation, Verbruggen combines finely nuanced choreography with humor and a love of detail. The accompaniment by the Bruckner Orchestra Linz opens up an attractive musical framework of associations with compositions ranging from Charles Ives and Gabriel Fauré to a Greek pop song by Alkistis Protopsalti.
