Florian Boesch in conversation with Markus Hinterhäuser

July 11, 2026, 19.00

In his speech at the opening of the 75th Salzburg Festival in 1995 entitled "What is truth?", Nikolaus Harnoncourt poses many new questions: the meaning and role of art, its entanglement with politics, its potential effectiveness: who does it serve? Is there an artistic truth that transcends time?

For Markus Hinterhäuser, Artistic Director of the Salzburg Festival, these are central issues in the debate about art and the position of the artist in society.
