How to get to Gschwandt in the Traunsee-Almtal region:
We recommend traveling by public transportation!
By train:
Take the train from Attnang-Puchheim Station to Gmunden Station, then take the Traunsee Tram (Line 161) from Stern & Hafferl to the Gschwandt-Schule stop; the same route applies if coming from Vorchdorf Eggenberg. The stop is just a few meters’ walk away.
There are numerous connections from Attnang-Puchheim Station to the mainline trains on the Westbahn line (Line 101) or via Gmunden to the Salzkammergutbahn toward Bad Ischl, Hallstatt, and Bad Aussee
By bike:
Gschwandt is also very easily accessible by bike. There is a bike route from Gmunden to Vorchdorf via Gschwandt. The Traunviertel Tour, as well as the R4 Traun Cycle Path and the R2 Salzkammergut Cycle Path, are thus easily accessible from Gmunden. Follow the green signs.
By car:
A1 West Highway: Vienna – Voralpenkreuz-A1 – A1 Laakirchen West exit – via Laakirchen to Gmunden East – ...
A1 West Highway: Munich – Salzburg – A1 Regau exit – B145 to Gmunden; also from Bad Ischl on the B145...
...before Gmunden, take the B120 eastern bypass toward Scharnstein; at the roundabout in Baumgarten, take the third exit toward Vorchdorf or Gschwandt; coming from Scharnstein on the B120, take the first exit at the roundabout; it’s on the right after 700 meters.
From Vorchdorf, take the state road to Gschwandt; it’s right in the center.
Parking is available right next to the school or at the town square.
