Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour.

In an era of climate urgency, Yann Tiersen redefines touring and challenges capitalist norms. From his lonely winter tour through Europe from Brest to Tallinn without a crew and with only his dog as a companion - he drove in his van no faster than 61 miles per hour (approx. 98 km/h), forgoing the usual comforts of touring consumption (hotels, wardrobe) and sleeping in other people's gardens - to traveling aboard his sailing boat Ninnog, on which he visited Ireland, the Faroe Islands, Scotland, the Shetland Islands, Wales and Cornwall (and soon the Arctic), he has taken his music to extraordinary landscapes and intimate places, eschewing large-scale touring to build genuine connections with local crews and promoters.

Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour is an album divided into two distinct, interconnected parts, each with its own sonic characteristics. "Rathlin from a Distance" consists of eight tracks of introspective piano playing. Tiersen explains: "There is something transformative about being at sea. Far away from the noise and the weight of the world, you are left alone with the raw, untamed forces of nature - and with yourself. It's a space where you can begin to question your beliefs, your identity, your gender and even the person you thought you were.
