Mr Kossdorff reads from his new novel: ‘The Happy Lake’
Film Synopsis:
Four siblings, their parents, the memory of their grandfather, the bond with a town: in 2022, a family comes together on the shores of Lake Traun to celebrate their solidarity in uncertain times. But they cannot prevent change and turbulence - nor can they prevent some things from repeating themselves. They are not your average family in the small town of Gmunden in the Salzkammergut: the children have names like Jola or Aino, their father was a househusband and their mother earned her living as a photographer. Everyone in the town knows them, partly because their grandfather was a high school professor and amateur poet ... But everything changes: the siblings Aino, Valentin, Jola and Leander are now between 40 and 50 years old and live between the USA and Salzburg, their parents are divorced. Even though humour, warmth and a rejection of philistinism are still on the family banner, the family's resistant spirit often loses out in the compromises of everyday life. Times become more difficult, dreams sometimes simply remain dreams, and what happens to others suddenly seems to be able to happen to you too.
