The early music ensemble MokkaBarock invites you to British Tea Time with works by Henry Purcell, John Playford and George Frideric Handel.
In the middle of the 17th century, England began importing tea from China. The wife of King Charles II, Catherine of Braganza, made the hot drink - still called "China drink" at the time - popular in English aristocratic circles. Later, the famous English Afternoon Tea established itself as a domestic ritual in all social classes to bridge the time between lunch and dinner. With English compositions from the 17th and 18th centuries, the musicians of MokkaBarock take you on a journey back in time. Melodies inspired by foggy Scotland or the bustling streets of London convey the musical flair of British tea culture. The program includes works by Nicola Matteis, Arcangelo Corelli, Henry Purcell, John Playford and George Frideric Handel.Untere Donaulände 7, 4010 Linz
