The Danube region is calling for a hiking adventure! Experience a special hike along the Inn - impressive views, historical places and exciting information await you on around 15 kilometers. Together we cross borders - geographically and in our minds.

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, the Schärding Tourism Association and the municipality of Wernstein invite you to a cross-border hiking event under the motto "Wandern verbINNdet - drent mit herent". The start and finish is Hessen Rainer Platz in Schärding. The hiking adventure begins at 09:00 a.m. and leads through around 15 kilometers of impressive natural and cultural landscapes along the Inn - between Schärding, Wernstein, Neuburg am Inn and Neuhaus am Inn.
At the start, all participants receive a stamp card, which can be stamped at four stations along the way, and a hiking map for orientation on request. The route initially runs on the Austrian side along the Inn Cycle Path R3 to the railroad bridge opposite Vornbach and then follows the "Romantic Inn Hiking Trail" to Wernstein. The first stopover with another stamp is located at kilometer 7. If you wish, you can take a short break here, where the Landhotel Mariensäule provides refreshments at a reasonable price for all hikers.
At numerous points along the route, QR-INNfo boards provide interesting insights into the history of the region - for example on shipping, the salt trade, the Vornbacher Enge, historical figures or the paradise garden of Neuburg Castle. A total of eight QR-INNfo Points are waiting to be discovered.

The third stamp is awarded at Neuburg am Inn, at around kilometer 8. The route continues along the Künstlersteig trail, through Vornbach and finally to Neuhaus am Inn, where the fourth and final stamp can be collected at kilometer 14.9. If you collect all four stamps on your map, you can look forward to a small reward at the finish.

The official finish takes place again at Hessen Rainer Platz in Schärding - with musical accompaniment and the opportunity to sit together in front of the tourist office.
The hike is suitable for all age groups and is mostly on easily accessible paths. Whether alone, with friends or family - this event is not just about walking, but above all about meeting people.
