Insight into living craftsmanship and tour of the so-called "Fuhr"
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., locals and guests alike are cordially invited to take a look behind the scenes of this extraordinary association - and experience a centuries-old cultural technique up close.
The focus is on the Hallstättersee "Fuhr" - a historic watercraft that once formed the economic backbone of the region and is still regarded today as a symbol of craftsmanship, closeness to nature and living tradition.
On this day, visitors have the rare opportunity not only to visit the workshop on the upper floor of the boat hut with its detailed production processes, but also to talk to active members of the association.
They provide expert insights into the elaborate construction, history and use of the boats.
On request, the short trips with a real "Plättenkapitän" or "Plättenkapitänin" are particularly special, where the magic of these unique boats of the Inner Salzkammergut can best be experienced - gliding silently over the waters of Lake Hallstatt.
The Plättenbau- und Ruderverein Hallstättersee is looking forward to welcoming many interested visitors and invites you to discover, marvel at and perhaps even learn to appreciate this valuable cultural asset.
