Schwertberg follows the call of Donau OÖ "Wandern verbindet" and organizes a hike past all the sights of the village on Sunday, 19 October 2025. Beautiful views along the route invite you to enjoy nature and the Mühlviertel

Under the motto "AUF'S LAND SCHAUEN" - step by step - culture, wine and convivial moments", the association DOSTE - l(i)ebenswertes Schwertberg invites you to a hike through the beautiful market town of Schwertberg, past all the sights. Along the route you will be offered beautiful views of the Mühlviertel. The refreshment points await you with culinary and musical delicacies.

The approximately 14 km long hike starts at 09:00 am in Schwertberg Park. We then leave the park and hike up to the PARISH CHURCH. Behind the parish office we continue to the new GENERATIONENPARK. From there, the path leads past the KALVARIENBERGKAPELLE where you can already catch the first magnificent view over Schwertberg. The hike continues to the "Bauer am Berg" with a panoramic view from the ÖTSCHER to the TRAUNSTEIN.
Via paths through the fields of Schwertberg we reach the Mascherbauer organic farm (refreshment stop). From the Mascherbauer we walk along the Windegg stream to the LICHTENWAGNER HAUS. (refreshment stop, WC) and up to the BURGRUINE WINDEGG (refreshment stop, WC). Along the path through the picturesque Josefstal valley we pass the Merckens company. In Josefstal we then cross the Aist and walk up the Fitweg where we reach the Wallhof after a few kilometers. A lunch break is planned there and you have the opportunity to visit this new wedding farm. There, too, a wonderful view awaits all hikers. Well fortified, we then hike along field and freight roads
to the "Wimpasser" (magnificent view of Schwertberg). Passing the 13 oaks (hiking trail 3), we follow this and along the way there is a beautiful view of Schwertberg Castle. The hiking route then leads past the historic summer house. From this Schwertberg hill, the hike then leads down towards the town center, past the schools and over the footbridge in Aisttalstraße back to the park.

The route is approx. 14 km long and takes around 4 hours (not including breaks at the refreshment points)
