Always on my mind.

On her current tour in support of her album “Always On My Mind”, the Norwegian singer and songwriter is dedicating herself to her favorite songs with an intimate band line-up. Rebekka Bakken transforms these songs, some of which have been with her since childhood, into her unmistakable sound cosmos between atmospheric Scandinavian pop and jazz.

Classics such as “Yesterday” by Lennon/McCartney, “Here Comes The Flood” by Peter Gabriel or “Why” by Annie Lennox are heard in a completely new sound, as is “Break My Heart Again” by Finneas O'Connell, who together with his sister Billie Eilish represents a new generation of songwriters.

With some of the best session musicians from Norway, the multiple gold award-winning musician and producer taps into mystical depths in the songs she has selected. Rebekka Bakken skillfully orchestrates the famous sound clouds of guitarist Eivind Aarset with the atmospheric organ and synthesizer pads of Jørn Øien and Torjus Vierli, which are transfigured around piano chords and the bass lines of Tor Egil Kreken and drum beats of Rune Arnesen. This multi-layered soundscape sets the stage for the breathtakingly soulful voice of Rebekka Bakken, whose intensity has led some to compare her to Janis Joplin.
