An "unplugged" musical journey through time with the Austrian singer-songwriter legend Wolfgang Ambros (vocals, guitar, harmonica) and Günter Dzikowski (keys and vocals) and Roland Vogl (guitar, bass and vocals). It is undisputed that Wolfgang Ambros' music has soul. To experience him in this way - musically reduced to the acoustic guitar and the playing of Günter Dzikowski on keyboards and Roland Vogl on bass - has a special fascination. Ambros has been thrilling audiences in this form for over a decade. A special concert experience in exclusive theaters and smaller halls.
The renaissance of one of the most important musicians and singers ever, the great Johnny Cash, was triggered by the basically obvious idea of sitting him down with just an acoustic guitar and simply letting him play. Without any "unplugged" fuss: the reduction to the essentials, the search for the essence of their music has already done many artists good, provided their music has an essence, a soul at all.
There is no doubt that Wolfgang Ambros' music has soul. A prickly one perhaps, but certainly a great one. The musical merits of this man are legion, hardly anyone has ever sung such words about the very Viennese and Austrian sensitivities as he has, so aptly that they have endured for decades as commentaries on a world that always remains the same at its core. Hardly anyone has managed the combination of the existential (love, death and all the rest) and lightness, full-bodied "Schmäh" like he did, just think, as one of countless examples, of "Es lebe der Zentralfriedhof". And no one has taken on the work of such great artists as Bob Dylan, Hans Moser, Tom Waits or Neil Young like he has, without ever producing embarrassment or leaving the stale feeling of standing on the shoulders of giants.
It is a treasure chest that creaks open and gradually reveals its treasures when you put this Wolfgang Ambros on a stage with "just" his voice, a guitar and the musicians Günter Dzikowski and Roland Vogl at his side. Dzikowski, long-time musician with No. 1 vom Wienerwald, and Roland Vogl, who has toured with Ambros for years, know the extensive Ambros song catalog (almost) as well as their "boss", and yet it is also a stimulating journey of discovery for the three performers to rediscover many of these songs in an intimate setting. "Even great numbers such as "Zentralfriedhof" or "Heit drah I mi ham" suddenly become very tangible again," says Ambros.
Audiences and critics have reacted enthusiastically to the previous Ambros pur! When else do you have the opportunity to get so close to a giant of local pop music like Wolfgang Ambros and his songs, many of which have long been folk songs of a different kind?
