With fanfares into the film music concert: the magnificent symphonic soundscapes of Hans Zimmer can be experienced in your city. Probably no composer has influenced the world of film with his overwhelming compositions over the past two decades as much as Oscar, Globe and Emmy winner Hans Zimmer. Visitors can expect a special musical evening in a large-scale performance with orchestra, choir, soloists and a light show.
German-born Hans Zimmer rose to fame with "Rain Man" and has since helped numerous Hollywood mega-hits to achieve success and dramatic-emotional impact, including "Gladiator", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Interstellar" and "Batman". In 2018, Hans Zimmer received his eleventh Oscar nomination for the film score to Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk".
The audience will learn interesting background stories, such as how Hans Zimmer completely changed the beginning of Gladiator with Ridley Scott and smuggled in a message against apartheid in the national language in the lyrics to The Lion King and told the big Disney company that it was about butterflies. Hans Zimmer often cited Ennio Morricone as a role model, from whose repertoire excerpts from "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Once Upon a Time in America", among others, can be heard and seen.
Morricone was a role model for Zimmer in terms of content: he composed the music before rather than after the film shooting, and thus shaped the entire work. Zimmer changed the beginning of Ridley Scott's "Gladiator" film, for example, whereupon the world-famous director moved to Hans Zimmer's studio. Hans Zimmer is an artist with a social conscience, who composed a song for the victims of the Batman cinema screening in Aurora as well as against climate change, both of which will be heard in the programme.
The Music of Hans Zimmer & Others - A Celebration of Filmmusic" will be performed by a symphonic orchestra and choir as well as soprano Johanna Krumin, who will perform Gladiator and Ennio Morricone's "Ecstasy of Gold", among others - in an impressive show with light installations, laser projections and selected film recordings. "The Music of Hans Zimmer & Others- A Celebration of Filmmusic" is an unforgettable audiovisual concert event.
