In the Unterlaussa miners' house, visitors embark on a journey back in time to the 800-year mining tradition of this region.
On the edge of the Kalkalpen National Park lies the small village of Unterlaussa in idyllic surroundings. For centuries, precious mineral resources have been sought in the remote forests of the Reichraminger Hintergebirge. The extraction of iron ore dates back to the Middle Ages. The extraction of bauxite gained great importance in the 20th century.
The visitor embarks on a journey through time at the Knappenhaus Unterlaussa, exploring the 800-year mining tradition of this area. A description of the miners' settlement Weißwasser is just as present as documentation of the cable car, one of the longest in Europe.
