It’s winter 1933 in Berlin, and posters of a man with a Charlie Chaplin mustache and a grim look hang in the streets. Nine-year-old Anna and her brother Max don’t care much about that. Anna wants to be famous, like her dad, the outspoken Jewish writer and theater critic; Max runs wild with his gang in the neighborhood.

But when their dad disappears overnight, Anna and Max have to flee abroad with their mother in a hurry, leaving behind everything they know and love—even Anna’s pink stuffed rabbit. A journey begins with an uncertain outcome and great challenges—but Anna’s impractical, loving family isn’t about to let anything get them down.

Judith Kerr’s life-affirming novel *When Hitler Stole the Pink Rabbit* is adapted by Henry Mason and Thomas Zaufke (*The Rabbit with the Amber Eyes*, “The Queens”) becomes a gripping 1930s musical that captivates with its melodies, humanity, and humor.
