International Brucknerfest Linz 2025. "My dear swan!" Lohengrin in 90 minutes. The soloist ensemble D'Accord and Juergen Maurer present Richard Wagner's romantic opera Lohengrin in a paraphrase for string sextet and narrator.
"Now thank you, my dear swan!" - With these words, the hero Lohengrin bids farewell to his 'lift' after his mysterious arrival in the Duchy of Brabant: a barge pulled across the water by a swan. It is understandable that he causes an uproar among the local population. Richard Wagner's romantic opera Lohengrin is a fairytale story full of riddles, intrigue, duels and many a plot twist.Without singing, orchestra or stage design, the soloist ensemble D'Accord and actor Juergen Maurer bring the story to life using only the means of language and music and thus create a link to the beginning of the festival. To this end, they utilise the visual suggestive power of the score which Friedrich Nietzsche apparently already knew about when he said: "In Lohengrin there is a lot of blue music. Wagner knows the opiate and narcotic effects". No wonder that Wagner's intoxicating tonal language was also a central model for later film music!
