International Brucknerfest Linz 2025. The Vienna Brass Connection and Johannes Kafka present a colourful programme with arrangements of works by John Williams, Giacomo Puccini, Richard Strauss and Anton Bruckner at their Brucknerhaus debut.
20 Austrian musicians from top orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the WDR Symphony Orchestra and the Bavarian State Orchestra have come together to form the Vienna Brass Connection. For its debut at the Brucknerhaus Linz, the ensemble, conducted by Johannes Kafka, combines film music by composers such as Michael Giacchino and John Williams with arrangements of Giacomo Puccini's Turandot or Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier as well as compositions by Anton Bruckner, such as the Adagio from the 7th Symphony or the monumental finale of the 8th Symphony. A unique mixture that, as the ensemble itself notes with a wink, "reflects the whole spectrum of life: sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, sometimes cheerful and sometimes sad, sometimes high, sometimes low, sometimes Bruckner and so on ...".
