The "Missa Caelestis" is a solemn mass in F minor, composed for choir and wind orchestra. This mass invites listeners to be inspired by the beauty and omnipresence of God through the powerful union of music and spirituality. The music unfolds in majestic choral movements and powerful orchestral passages that reflect the greatness and majesty of God. The "Missa Caelestis" is a work commissioned by the Hard-Chor Linz and for interested concertgoers there will be an introductory lecture with Florian Moitzi, Alois Papst and Alexander Koller before the concert at 18.45.
The Berlin Mass is to be sung as part of the Pentecost liturgy and therefore contains the Veni Sancte Spiritus, which is part of this service. The gently unfolding repetitions deliberately avoid dramatic and pictorial elements; rather, they radiate calm dignity and a deep joy. The vocal parts show practically no signs of interpretation. Dynamics and tempi are left to the performers; it is their task to experience and convey the rich spiritual possibilities of this music. The work is devotional and transparent.
