Hercules is born on Mount Olympus as the son of Zeus and Hera, the father of the gods. Hades, eloquent god of the underworld and powerful adversary and brother of Zeus, has Hercules abducted to earth. Thus Hercules grows up as a foster child to a mortal man, but still possesses the power of the gods.
