Photography and meditation - The ZEN of Photography

Works by the participants of the Summer Workshop Series 2025 in the Botanical Garden Linz.

Photography meets ZEN meditation here. Two ways of gathering that open each other up. Meditation prepares the mind to see the world more clearly and without distortion.

This year, people with cameras gathered at the Botanical Garden Linz on several dates to practise this. A short, ten-minute period of sitting in silence was followed by photo-walking meditation, in which the camera was only a tool to capture what it touched.

Which setting was chosen, manual, semi-automatic or automatic mode, was irrelevant. The only thing that mattered was that what was seen found its way into the camera without the desire for perfection. It was about openness, about capturing and allowing.

The resulting pictures are all very different, just like those taken with the camera in ZEN mode in the Botanical Garden Linz.
