On the days of the open hut doors you can visit the culturally and historically interesting hunting lodge "Bärenriedlau". It was built at the beginning of the 18th century and offered accommodation for cattle herders and hunters, and later also for the heir to the throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand. On the walls and doors you can still read the names of formerly important people who immortalized themselves here with pencil graffiti in the last century. National park ranger Bernhard Sulzbacher has many stories to tell about the Bärenriedlau hut, which was renovated in 2014.
Caution! The hut is closed when it rains continuously. The hut is not managed - please bring your own snack and sufficient drinks. Because of the long walks and strong sunlight on the south side of the Sengsen Mountains, you need plenty of drinking water, and there is no way to fill up the water bottle.
The ascent to the hut is independent: via Koppen to the Bärenriedlau hut or from St. Pankraz on path no. 461/ 462 via Saubachgut
