The exhibition "KM 2139 - 2140 - Tausend Meter Donau" brings together a selection of photographic impressions taken over half a decade - silent snapshots of a place that eludes the fleeting glance.

A short section of the Danube, barely a thousand meters long, between river kilometers 2139 and 2140 - a stretch that does not stand out on any map, viewed over the course of several years. Along the garden city of Puchenau, not far from Linz, this place has become a quiet familiarity for photographer Wilhelm Camerloher.

The place was once called Buchenau - a name that was self-explanatory, because where paths, houses and gardens lie today, beech trees once rustled in the wind. Today, part of Puchenau is a garden city with a variety of housing types: Bungalows with gardens and terraced apartments with views of the countryside.

Wilhelm Camerloher has lived here with his wife Doris for over 27 years. The proximity to the Danube, the riparian forests, the changing water levels, the sometimes quiet, sometimes loud breath of nature - all of this creates a resonating space for him. On walks or in his own canoe, he encounters the ordinary.
