A special musical experience: Carl Orff's monumental masterpiece Carmina Burana, performed by the Munich Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Rebecca Miller.
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's concert overture The Hebrides was composed while the composer was travelling to England and from there to the famous Fingal's Cave on the island of Staffa on the west coast of Scotland. The fateful sounds inspired by the epic poem Ossian popular at the time lead seamlessly into Johannes Brahms' Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny), which oscillates between earthly heaviness and heavenly lightness and is based on a poem by Friedrich Hölderlin. And as if that wasn't enough of the heaviness of fate, the second half of the concert features Carl Orff's Carmina Burana , whose monumental opening chorus begins with the words "O Fortuna velut Luna / statu variabilis": "Fate, like the moon up there, / so changeable art thou". Rebecca Miller, who made her impressive debut in Linz at the ceremony of the International Bruckner Festival Linz 2023, and the Munich Symphony Orchestra bring these works to the stage together with three great soloists and the Munich Bach Choir.Untere Donaulände 7, 4010 Linz
