In the impressive natural scenery of the Limestone Alps, we get active with our own hands: we go in search of the biodiversity and colors of nature and try mowing with a scythe. We also make homemade butter, which is refined with collected wild herbs into aromatic Kalkalpen herb butter and enjoyed with hearty farmhouse bread.
The Schweizersberg, the place where this natural spectacle takes place, offers a great overview of the valley between the Sensengebirge in the Kalkalpen National Park and the impressive Warscheneck. Against this backdrop, the participants are invited to actively explore nature. In search of the peculiarities of nature, we are stimulated to look, marvel and observe and get to know the colorful diversity of plants and animals. The subsequent collection of wild herbs offers a delicious foretaste of the culinary refreshment ahead. After the mystery of how grass becomes milk, we shake our own butter in a glass, which is refined with the collected wild herbs into aromatic limestone alpine herb butter and tasted with home-baked wood-fired farmer's bread. Mowing with a scythe is an almost forgotten art that anyone who wants to can try. Incidentally, the only scythe factory in Upper Austria that has been producing scythes for over 500 years is located in the village. The view of “a gmahde Bergwiesn” and the herb butter that we shake will remain in good memories for a long time to come!
