Viktor Gernot

A song recital to mark the pre-Christmas season with Christmas songs and Advent tales and satires. Created, compiled and sung by the Austrian grand master of Christmas concerts, Viktor Gernot. Accompanied on the piano by his friend and long-time musical companion, the brilliant master of all 88 keys, Prof. Aaron Wonesch.

Viktor Gernot has been playing swinging Advent concerts since the early 1990s. Starting with the small club a la Roter Engel, to the truly legendary series of shows in all federal states, in the Kabarett Simpl and later in the Casanova Wien, to the Ronacher Wien, or even the Stadthallen in Graz and Vienna. Formerly with Viktor Gernot's Best Friends, his band of many years. Always with unmistakable, own arrangements of the exclusive song selection from the Great American Christmas Songbook, mixed with selected poems and stories, performed in the famous tone of the protagonist. Often copied, never equaled.

Aaron was also indispensable as a pianist in all these projects. And so the two now come together in December 2026 to interpret the swinging, jazzy and sometimes balladic songs together. The enthusiasm and love with which Viktor Gernot first heard White Christmas in the Hollywood movie 'Holiday Inn' as a child is the basis of this concert night. His first LP under the Christmas tree was once Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas'. In the decades since, his enthusiasm has developed through hundreds and hundreds of concerts and the study of Christmas literature, both literary and musical, into a true connoisseur and expert.
