New Year's party in the Koppenbrüller cave

On January 2nd, the Hallstatt-Obertraun Caving Association will once again celebrate the traditional New Year's party in the Koppenbrüller Cave in Obertraun.

Unique New Year's celebration

Since 1980, this event has become a fixture on the tourist calendar in the Inner Salzkammergut. It takes place every year on January 2nd.

You are led by torches from the Koppenrast parking lot through wintry landscapes to the cave entrance. Once there, you will be greeted by the Obertraun brass band and the Bengal glow at the cave entrance.

Guided tours through the Koppenbrüller Cave

Those interested now have the opportunity to take part in expert guided tours of the Koppenbrüller Cave . Inside the cave, the cave areas "Simonyhalle", "Hannakluft" and "Lahnerhalle", as well as the "Klingfall" and various stalactite formations, which are also known from the summer show caves, are impressive. A stand with detailed speleological information is of course set up on site.

The musical part, which has been performed by a group of local didgeridoo players in the "Krokodilhalle" for the last few years, will once again enrich the program this year.

The Obertraun hosts also invite you to grill potatoes at the open campfire or to fortify yourself with hot drinks, which will both lift your spirits in the sometimes arctic temperatures and shorten occasional waiting times.
