Zauner Retreat

The Traunviertel region in the state of Upper Austria, with its “360° Alpine View” tourist region, is our home.
Marina, a farmer and midwife by conviction, and Martin, a farmer and forester, are the Zauner family who live on the eponymous square farmstead. This type of farmstead is common in our area; all areas of farming and living are located within four building facades, each with a square inner courtyard.

Another characteristic is the often considerable distance from the nearest neighbor—in our case, several hundred meters.
In this secluded location, we have created a paradise on earth. The secluded former wine press house has been transformed into a modern vacation home (120 m²) with an elevator, a veranda, a natural swimming pond, a sauna, a freestanding bathtub, SkyOnsen, and a fully equipped kitchen featuring a wood-burning stove and a tiled stove. It serves solely as your oasis, your refuge, where you can linger and stay a while. Clay-plastered walls and Swiss stone pine bedding ensure a restful night’s sleep.

Beyond this idyll, you can explore places like the Benedictine Abbey of Kremsmünster, the historic industrial city of Steyr, the trade fair city of Wels, and Linz, the capital of Upper Austria.
The neighboring town of Bad Hall is known for itsiodine spa and the municipal theater; the spa gardens invite you to take a leisurely stroll.
The diverse cultural landscape is also perfect for exploring by bike or e-bike on numerous bike paths and farm roads.

Culinary diversity—from down-to-earth wine taverns to upscale, award-winning cuisine—is just a short distance away.
Farm stores, farmers’ markets, and direct-from-the-farm vendors are sure to delight those who prefer to cook for themselves.
