The tower Built in 1564 from stones from the Scheibling Church in Enns. For more than four hundred years, the city tower served as a church tower, fire alarm post, clock tower and city watch. Tower warden was considered a tough man's job, but tower keeper Höllmüller became famous: Her family kept order in the tower until 1985, operated the clockwork and rang the six bells.
The tower hotel project In 2008 the idea for the tower hotel was born. In 2012, the regulars' table of the Ens gentlemen received the rights. The shell of the room is being renovated under the strictest conditions of monument protection. 23 layers of plaster and paint from four centuries are painstakingly uncovered and documented. In June 2012, our restorers found the presumably original cable passage of the clock winding mechanism in a room niche. The original shop floor is discovered under younger floor coverings, numbered piece by piece and sent for restoration. Architect Haas has created a modern bathroom with rain shower between conglomerate stone and smoke-blackened arches. After 448 years, our city tower is getting a hotel room.
