Lichtenberg observatory

Description:

This trail run starts directly at the Kogel train station. After crossing the district road, we follow the rocky path opposite and come to the Kogelberg hiking trail.

We run beautifully along the hiking trail past the Vogl-Anna Platzl. The path turns and we continue along forest roads for several kilometers until we reach the Gantioler-Weg junction. Here we enter a beautiful forest and follow the marked trails towards Lichentenbergwarte.

Before we get there, we pass the Ganter mountain inn and there is already a summit cross with a rest area. But our goal is the viewing platform, which is over 36 meters high!

We climb hundreds of steps to the top floor of the wooden tower. From here, you have a unique panoramic view of the Attergau region and a beautiful view of Lake Attersee. Once you've had your fill of the view and perhaps had a snack, you can look forward to a gentle and flowing downhill!

From the tower, we make our way along the forest road of the Lichtenberg circular trail. We first ride along the circular trail until the next but one junction at Almleiten. Follow the forest road down to Kogel. We return to the starting point via the goods road familiar from the ascent. The gentle downhill is also very suitable for trail beginners!

Directions:
First follow the hiking trail from Kogel over the Vogelberg, then branch off and continue along the Klausbach. From there, take the marked ascent towards Lichtenbergwarte. On the descent, stay on the circular hiking trail for half a lap and then take the Forsstraße back to Kogl.

Tip:
Also doable in summer when the weather is not so good. Great trail run for beginners, although some stamina is required.
