Insider tip
Description: The Smugglers' Route begins at the village square in Neustift and runs across the state border to Gottsdorf to the Neujochenstein ruin. It is followed by a descent via the Donauleite to the Jochenstein Danube power plant and the "Active Museum" House on the Stream. Afterwards, there is a steep climb again to the Danube viewpoint Penzenstein and the panoramic view at Großmollsberg. Finally, the circular route leads back to Neustift via Forstedt. The staged smuggler routes from Gottsdorf to Neustift (group and bus program) are particularly popular.Equipment: sturdy hiking boots required
