The theme trail "Tales of Goisern" guides you through the rich cultural, architectural and economic history of the town with the help of over thirty information boards in 1.5 hours. A contemplative walk through the local history, during which you experience the diversity and substance of the Goiserer past and present.
„Bua, is’s wo recht gschmah, sand gwiß Goiserer da. Gabs koan Goiserer nit, gab’s koa Gaudi, koan` Strit, gab’s koa Tanzl koan Gsang, gab ah d’Musi koan Klang.“
"Boy, where it is really cosy, the Goiserer (inhabitants of Bad Goisern) are surely there. If there were no Goiserer, there would be no fun, no quarrel, no dance, no singing and no music either".
A journey through the Goiserer history
Non-Goiserers may find it a little difficult to translate this dialect poem by Willi Kefer (1913 to 1975). The fact that the Goiserer have developed into a very special breed of people is also proven by the 30 experience points on this thematic path. The flat circular route takes you a good hour's walk to the most important stations in the history of this endearing market. Above all, they document the importance that Goisern had for the salt industry. In the course of this "journey through time", a number of inns invite you to the appropriate culinary specialities.
The route description of the theme trail
From the tourist office Bad Goisern the Kirchengasse leads you to the catholic church, from where you reach the market square via a narrow alley. Pass the municipal office and walk along "Obere Marktstraße" to Unimarkt and on to the Protestant church.
Following Ramsaustraße, the "Themenweg" leads you along the Traun on the Traunreiter path to the right before the Goiserer bridge until you reach the Sophienbrücke railway crossing.
Cross the bridge and follow the "Sophienbrückenstraße" for about 500 m. On the right a small path leads to the woodcutter museum and further to the Wohlfühlhotel "Goiserer Mühle", the heritage museum and the park gardens. Walk along the Mühlbach to the wash benches, then keep left and on the "Dr. Mathia Promenade" you reach "Marktstraße" again, which you follow left again.
The historic Seeauwirt (old restaurant), also a station of the "Goiserer Gschichte(n)", is located there. From here it is only a jump into "Kirchengasse" and back to tourist office Bad Goisern.
