Beautiful hike with mesmerising views of the picturesque landscape of the Bohemian Forest vacation area and Germany!
Sure-footedness and good footwear required!

0 km  You start the hike at the Pendelin car park in Oberschwarzenberg (P1 - subject to charge!) and follow the yellow signpost with the Dreisesselberg via Witikosteig. Shortly afterwards, cross the Grenzbach stream (border with Bavaria) at Furth. From now on you will follow the Bavarian signposts (green signposts). You come to a forest road and continue along it. After 600 metres you leave this road and join the forest path on the right. Now continue uphill, crossing several forest roads, on beautiful forest paths until you come to a fork (don't go towards the Dreisesselberg car park here). Keep right and after about 700 metres you will join the asphalt road that leads up to the

4.4 km Dreisesselschutzhaus. Ascent to the Dreisessel rock (1312 m): According to legend, the Dreisessel got its name from the kings of the three countries, who are said to have once sat up here on rock armchairs to confer. Take the 15-minute detour to the Hochstein (1332 m). The view of the mountains of the Bavarian Forest and, above all, the Czech Republic is marvellous. Back at the Dreisessel shelter, walk back along the tarmac road for about 400 metres and don't overlook the...

5.8 km turn-off to the left to the Steinernes Meer
. On a beautiful forest path over...

8.0 km roots and stones, the route climbs gently and flat to the Sea of Stone. The strange rock formations were created by weathering and leave a fascinating impression. The greatest width is 250 metres and the length is around 400 metres. Enjoy the magnificent view of the surrounding countryside, even as far as the Alps in fine weather. Downhill, always following the signposts, you cross the...

9.4 km Grenzbach again. Now follow the yellow signposts again, where you take the path to the Oberschwarzenberg car park. An approximately 25-minute steep, stony path leads you downhill to the...
