St. Georgen bei Obernberg am Inn

St. Georgen bei Obernberg am Inn, Oberösterreich, Österreich

You´ll find the tiny rural commune of Sankt Georgen near Obernberg on the banks of the River Inn next to the Bavarian Border in the District of Ried im Innkreis.

The name of the village derives from Saint George, who is said to have bravely attacked a dragon and transfixed it with his lance. The legend of the dragon-slaying hero can be traced back in time and reflects some of the oldest mythology.

The Lower Inn European Nature Preserve sprawls across Sankt Georgen and lends itself to outstanding nature exploration on foot and by bicycle. The popular Inntal Cycle Trail, for example, passes right through St. Georgen.

Culture lovers can explore the nearby Reichersberg Abbey that is a sight to behold. And those who want to restore new energies can take the waters at the Geinberg Spa Resort - a place where you will watch the outside pressures of the world drift away as you experience the ultimate in relaxation.
