Eitzing

Eitzing, Oberösterreich, Österreich
The gently rolling hills of the rural commune of Eitzing sprawl along both banks of Kretschbach stream, an area of outstanding natural beauty... Farmland and foothills form a lovely landscape, with a mosaic of woodlands and small fields divided up by Kretschbach stream that makes for some perfect fishing terrain. A mighty hill towers high above it all.

In the 12th century this was the site for a splendid hilltop Castle built by the Noblemen of Izing (Eitzing). The uniqueness of the precious Schwanthaler statues in Rococo style draw much appreciative comment from visitors. The hamlet of Untereitzing is home to the lovely Parish Church which is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Rich in history, Eitzing continues to satisfy the visitors who come to rejoice in this pleasant, compact market town so rich in beautiful things and one that delights in welcoming those who come to share them. The stunning scenery lends itself to outstanding walking and cycling. The scenic Antiesen Cycle Trail travels across Eitzing, offering a perfect blend of fun, activity and natural beauty. When it comes to sports, Eitzing boasts a tremendous variety of seasonal activities, such as curling, tennis, soccer, fishing, shooting and fitness.

You can be certain of a warm welcome at Eitzing whether it's just to break your journey or to stay a while - this simply is a great place in which to relax and enjoy yourself!
