In 1230 Langenstein was first mentioned as "Stein" in historical documents. From 1626 the name was changed into "Langenstein".

The charming little town is conveniently embedded in Mühlviertel´s gently rolling hills, only 15 km from Linz, Upper Austria´s capital.
