Hofkirchen an der Trattnach
Hofkirchen an der Trattnach, Oberösterreich, Österreich
Rich in culture and history, the town of Hofkirchen an der Trattnach (district of Grieskirchen) boasts a colorful past and features one of the region's most treasured gems of Baroque architecture. There is evidence of a settlement at Hofkirchen as early as in Roman times. Later on, Bavarian settlers established towns and villages along the Roman road between Lambach and Peuerbach and set up a system of trade and commerce.
Built by monks and consecrated to St John the Baptist, the Hofkirchen parish church first appeared in historical documents in 782. It is not without reason that the beautiful Baroque-style church has always been the town´s most treasured possession.
