Agriculture plays an important role in area’s economy both in the provision of food and employment. Farming also plays an important role in the quality of the region’s environment, with farmers acting as guardians of the countryside. The town itself has only few jobs and most people commute to Peuerbach, Grieskirchen, Wels or Linz.
Eschenau’s pristine and untouched countryside offers peaceful relaxation as well as great hiking and cycling. There are several great vantage points in the area, and two inns cater to hungry and thirsty guests.
A worthwhile attraction is the “"Ölbründl”: a source next to a chapel, the waters of which are said to heal eye complaints.
