Since January 2023, the Landesmusikschule Ried i. I. has been running the pilot project "DANCE - ELIXIR OF LIFE FOR PARKINSON'S" founded and led by Margit M. Wallner BA, has been taking place.
In this "multi-sensory dance and music program", people with Parkinson's disease are taught dance, movement and music in a stimulating and creative way under professional supervision. The focus is on the joy of movement and music. The lessons are artistically oriented. Various dance styles, music styles and practical movement methods are used. Balance, coordination, flexibility, rhythm, memory, fall prevention, gait safety, flow of movement and self-confidence are encouraged. Vocal, relaxation and breathing exercises complement the lessons. You can join at any time, no previous experience is required.
The aim is to promote self-competence, orientation in time and space and the ability to act in everyday life. An important goal is to experience joy, confidence, hope and dignity. Lessons begin in a seated position and progress to movement sequences in a standing position. Active participation in cultural life, as well as the involvement of partners, family members and friends, makes it possible to contribute talents, abilities and interests and thus experience inclusion in practice.
