The Schmitzberg-Ampflwang miners' band was founded on 7 October 1925 by twelve miners from the WTK Schmitzberg lignite mine in Ampflwang.

Over the years, the initially small brass band has developed into a large orchestra with 65 active musicians, whose musical activities range from framing local festivals, celebrations and funerals to performances with smaller ensembles on various occasions to concert and marching performances at home and abroad. A particular highlight was the concert project "SINNfonie - A concert experience for all the senses" in the Ampflwang parish church in March 2017, organised by our new bandleader Thomas Pachinger, with a unique, holistic wow effect.

A special focus, however, is the association's internal youth work. The BMK's youth band, known as the werXmusi youth, consists of 26 young musicians, who are well looked after by our youth officer Evelyn Streif and are also the organisers of the traditional annual werXmusi-Gschnas.
