The saw museum in Eggelsberg is a former steam sawmill dating back to 1917. The frame saw was operated with a steam engine, but this was sold in the 1990s as it could no longer be repaired due to numerous thefts. However, the frame saw is still in working order and is set in motion for visitors by means of an electric motor that dates back to the beginnings of the electricity supply in 1920.
You can also see the original preserved piston water pump from 1929 and the old grinding machine for the saw blades, which is also fully functional, as well as many other hand saws (approx. 150 pieces) and woodworking machines of all kinds, such as a lathe, planing benches, band saw from 191O, functional chainsaws from 1956 (two-man saw is demonstrated).
In addition, a Schöberl stationary engine from 1940 is started and it is shown that in the past, agricultural equipment such as grinders, grain mills, apple mills, etc. were powered by a single mobile stationary engine.

A collection of old utensils is also on display, including a clothes ironer and the first drum washing machine, each with a hand crank, a butter churner and old toys. There are also tools for processing flax and hemp, which were once grown in the area. Office equipment including a typewriter, calculating machine and telephone, each without electricity from 1950, as well as a collection of hand sewing machines can be viewed.

To welcome the visitors, the newly purchased steam engine is started and each visitor is transported back to 100 years ago. The original of this "steamer" dates back to 1910.

For children, it is possible to explain and demonstrate the operation of a steam engine in a miniature installation.
