We, Thomas and Magdalena Steinbauer, decided in 2015 to specialise in the cultivation of medicinal, wild and aromatic herbs.

After our parents' farm had been closed for a few years, we wanted to say goodbye to pig farming and take on a new challenge; this is how the foundation stone for the organic herb farm was laid. Around 40-50 different herbs, from A for apple mint to Z for lemon balm, now thrive on an area of approx. 1.5 hectares.

The herbs are available fresh from the farm and are processed into our herb specialities, which can be purchased at the fresh produce market, in regional shops and from the farm.

We attach great importance to careful handling and processing of the herbs.

All work steps take place on the farm, with a small drying room being built in 2017 and a rack drying system for approx. 15m³ of herbs per drying cycle in 2018.

The energy required for this is supplied by a 20 kW solar system and naturally renewable raw materials from our own forest.

Our herbs are dried at temperatures of around 38°C

Hand-picked quality characterises our products!

We endeavour to select packaging that is as environmentally friendly and resource-saving as possible, although we occasionally come up against some limits or hurdles in terms of hygiene guidelines, which we try to overcome.

Glass and paper are our favourites, we use recycled paper for our labels and each label is cut by hand. All our products are labelled by hand.

We do not use chemical adhesives for our jars and instead use pure milk.

The farm is run as a sideline.

Our two children - Jonathan (2.5 years old) and Florentina (1 year old) enjoy life on the farm, in the fields, in contact with nature and the herbs.

We receive support from the senior generation on the farm. (Babysitter & Co. ;))
In 2017, we expanded our range and now also cultivate vegetables - on a small scale - mainly varietal specialities and rarities, some of which grow in our foil tunnel.

Our varieties vary from year to year - aubergines, tomatoes, tree spinach, physalis, melons, artichokes, .....

Emmer - a forgotten ancient grain grows in our fields and is offered as rice, pasta or wholemeal.

Our farm animals include sheep (Carniolan stone sheep), cats, cockerels, chickens (various breeds) and dwarf rabbits.
