BIOhof Geinberg

Geinberg, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Don't plant me long.

Take a group of courageous people, a geothermal spring, 500,000 worms, a colony of bumblebees and create a project with heart and brain. Sounds strange? But it is.

The Steiner family from Hochburg-Ach in Upper Austria and the Perlinger family from Wallern in Burgenland have chosen the centre of the Innviertel region to build one of the most environmentally friendly and modern glass houses in Europe.

The special features at a glance:
- 11.2 hectares of production area without additional soil sealing
- CO2-free heating from Vamed's existing geothermal energy source
- Creation of over 100 jobs
- Sale exclusively on the Austrian market
- Added value remains in the region
- Rainwater is used to water the plants
- Own packaging plant with sustainable cardboard packaging
- Own photovoltaic system supplies the required electricity

Curtain up for the main actors
Organic tomatoes, organic peppers and organic cucumbers, which can now be found all year round in the protected cultivation of the organic farm, are the main actors on the serving tray.

The three protagonists take a somewhat calmer approach to all the complex and forward-looking elements and take enough time to grow and thrive. Although there is no lack of self-confidence. The tomato plants, which can grow up to 15 metres tall, look down cheekily on interested visitors, who can see the colourful and sustainable diversity for themselves in the specially built visitor centre. Guided tours will be offered from autumn 2022 and can be booked directly at the BIOhof.
